Trout Fishing
Toccoa Camp is surrounded by outdoor recreational treasure spots in beautiful Blue Ridge, Georgia In Fannin County. While there are many trout fishing locations, he most famous is the incredible trout fishing right outside your front door at Toccata Camp. Hot House Creek is on one side of Toccoa Camp and the famous Toccoa River Tailwater is on the other side of this gated river front community that was awarded “the Certified Wildlife Habitat “award by the National Wildlife Federation. Both of these streams are brimming with hardy brown and rainbow trout populations. Toccoa Camp is on the famous tailwaters of the Toccoa River from the Blue Ridge Lake dam thereby providing water temperatures that remain in the high fifties thereby creating the water temperature and feeding biomass conducive to year round trout fishing. On the other side, Hot House creek is a Designated Georgia Trout stream coming out of the mountains of North Carolina just miles away. Also, if you want to take one of many day excursions, other nearby trout waters include Jacks River, the Conasauga River,  Fightingtown Creek and just over the border in North Carolina, the Nantahala river. Jacks and the Conasauga parallel each other through the Cohutta Wilderness Area and offer excellent angling for native rainbow, brown and brook trout.

Blue Ridge
Blue Ridge is a community with a wonderful heritage and much to do including its recent award as the fifth best tourist destination in the country. It is located near the 750,000 acre Chattahoochee National Forest, Rich Mountain Wilderness Area and Chute Wilderness, the largest wilderness east of the Mississippi. These areas offer limitless hiking, biking, horseback riding trails, trout fishing, and white water rafting and kayaking. In addition, the Benton Mackaye Trail, the Appalachian Trail and Amicalola Falls State Park can be easily reached from Toccoa Camp. These rich natural areas abound with recreational opportunities. When you are done exploring them, you can return to your residences at Toccoa Camp and yet enjoy these wilderness areas just minutes away.  Toccoa Camp residents also can enjoy whitewater adventure out their front door or at many of the surrounding rivers, including the Ocoee with the 1994 U.S.Olympic Course, Cartecay, Amicalola while the popular Nantahala River, also nearby, boasts Class III rapids.

Lake Country
EtowahToccoa Camp also provides residents with plenty of area lakes. For example, Lake Blue Ridge is located less than 10 minutes from the community and is one of Georgia’s most picturesque mountain lakes. The 3,290 acre lake is home to bass, bream, catfish, perch and crappie. Lake Nottely, a 4,180 acre lake nestled in the mountains and valleys of the Chattahoochee National Forest, offers 106 miles of shoreline. The small mountain lake has clear deep water and abundant populations of striper, black and striped bass, walleye and rainbow trout.

Two other nearby lakes include Lake Chatuge and Hiwassee. Lake Chatuge is a large recreational lake running between Hiawassee, Georgia and Hayesville, North Carolina The Nantahla, surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, offers spectacular scenery and tranquility. This beautiful mountain lake, covering 6,090 acres with almost 180 miles of shoreline, offers boating, water-skiing, swimming and fishing opportunities. Fish within the reservoirs include bluegill, yellow perch, bass and muskier. Appalachia Lake is located in the Appalachian Mountains of Cherokee County in western North Carolina. This scenic mountain lake features 31 miles of shoreline and more than 1,000 acres of water. Fish in Appalachia Lake include smallmouth and largemouth bass, white bass, walleye and trout.

GolfingGolf
Golf is another activity that you will have plenty of time to enjoy while living at Toccoa Camp. Toccoa Camp is around the corner approximately two miles from the recently launched Blue River Golf and River club, a large and exclusive semiprivate development of the developers of other premier golf clubs. Memberships are available to Toccoa Camp Residents Public uses also abound with Brasstown Valley resort, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering a spectacular mountain golf experience and dining. The Brass town Valley Golf Club has been ranked by both Golf Digest and Leading Golf Courses of America as one of the top courses to play in Georgia. Butternut Creek Golf Course, which features 6,536 yards of dramatic fairways, is one of the area’s finest public golf courses. In addition, Whitepath and Cherokee Hills Golf Course in Murphy, North Carolina, are easily accessible and minutes away.

Music and Art
Music, arts and crafts also are a big part of the popular mountain culture near Toccoa Camp. This southern Appalachian region is known for its Scotch-Irish culture, and the musicians, craftsmen and artists that call the area home keep this heritage is alive. Lifestyle PagePickin’ in the Park, a series of weekly live musical performances, takes places from May through September along the Toccoa River in McCaysville, just four miles away. This music series is a short 15 minute drive from Blue Ridge and offers genres such as Bluegrass, Oldtime mountain music, Jazz, Folk, Gospel, Reggae, Classical and Barber Shop.Lifestyle Page
